Some foods which are edible for humans, and even other species of animals, can pose hazards for dogs because of their different metabolism. Some may cause only mild digestive upsets, whereas, others can cause severe illness, and even death. The following common food items should not be fed (intentionally or unintentionally) to dogs. This list is, of course, incomplete because we can not possibly list everything your dog should not eat.

I think this is a very useful chart showing general information just to take precautions and gain basic knowledge of what can happen...Moderation is the cardinal rule of herb use. I.e: Small doses of garlic added to your companion animal's food, perhaps 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder per pound of food fed, is probably going to be of great benefit to the overall health of your pet. Just don't overdo it. As we get to know our animals, we always find a balance. (I.e.: My cocker spaniel reacts very badly to raw eggs, cottage cheese and cooked liver where as many people find them very healthful for their dogs and that works for them) No two dog is the same. With precautions and some commonsense, we can avoid food poisoning, and other illnesses. For therapeutic capacities, always consult your veterinarian, holistic practioner, nutritionist and/or read your labels carefully. As for tomato: Some holistic practioners and vets
believe the tomatoes can cause tremors and heart arrhythmias. Some don't
believe that. But everybody agrees the vine is toxic. The above chart
states the stem and leaves are toxic.
