BFF: Ilonka Dazevedo. Hi, my name is Reno and I’m a rescue dog. I was found as a stray and taken to a shelter. My family, thinking I would be with them only for few weeks, took me in as a foster. Needless to say, they failed. Of course I did my best to ensure this. Life is great! They take me everywhere. I even got to go on a vacation to Smith Mountain Lake and what a blast I had! Swimming several times a day, chasing the ducks and butterflies. Here I am on my first boat ride. My life is complete... surrounded by the sweet smell of love! NUMBER

"My mom rescued me the night before I was to be euthanized. All because I am a Pit Bull! I was only 12 wks old and my hind end was shattered by my so-called owner at 6wks. My mom fell in love with me at first sight. She taught me love and kindness that I never knew before. When I was 5yrs old, my mom was gone for a couple of days and came home with this little pink thing, that cried and cooed all the time. I could tell my mom loved her very much. I felt like I had finally realized what I was here for! It was to love and be loved by this little girl, that mom calls Kellin. And my goodness we love each other so much! BFF: Robby Rhinesmith In addition to having two of our own, we also foster Weimaraners for the Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. Each foster has a different story, most of which we do not know. But what we do know is that Sammy and Gracie help care for each one in their own special way, always teaching them their boundaries and that if they sniff a little, they will find the sweet smell of love that our family has to offer! Jamila Dphrepaulezz This is a portrait of myself and my little pug, Onyx, which was taken as part of the Portrait Project sponsored by The Friends of the High Line (in Manhattan). I adopted Onyx at 9 months old on December 19, 2006. Her Mom, Lynn, could not keep her because of a mean, intolerant landlord. The minute I met her she jumped into my lap and exhibited a wonderful, soulful exhuberance which was just thrilling. Next think you know, I was being bundled into a cab and we were on our way to our home in the Village. Onyx is a really socially well adjusted pug who just adores people and other dogs. She loves going to the Washington Square Park Dog Run to play with her especially Maggie -- they are wrestling partners. Onyx is adorable, lovable; she is the sweet smell of Love! She is a dream. I am grateful to her other Mom, Lynn, for bringing her into my life! NUMBER

I'm pretty smart, they tell me: I can fetch and catch a Frisbee, ball or toy and bring it back to you. Sometimes, that's all I want to do! When I carry the Frisbee back, Mom tells me I look like I am carrying a pizza pie! I also do tricks like sit, paw, stay, and rollover. I've earned my Canine Good Citizen Award, and been to a nursing home to make old people happy. In this picture it was my 4th birthday, and I am getting to eat my own bananna flavored cake with cream cheese icing. Yummm! I believe, with my big sniffer, that I found the sweet smell of love! Dancer is 18 months old, long haired Male Chihuahua and the love of my life. He is just very, very small. He weighs 18 ounces and is only five inches tall. This little guy has given me a lot to look forward to from the day he was born. It all started when I received a phone call from a friend whose neighbor had moved out of their apartment and left this pitiful little female Chihuahua. I ran right over to check on her. She was underweight, dehydrated and pregnant! Three weeks later she delivered two puppies. The first was a little girl that was adopted by a wonderful couple. Next came little Dancer. He was 1/4 his sister's size. I had to nurse him to health. While this may not seem like such a big story to a lot of people, this little guy helped me as much as I helped him. When we're together, the sweet smell of love is always in the air! NUMBER
