Year of the Bull Terrier!

Congratulations to Rufus, the tan-and-white mix bullterrier who won the 2006 Best In Show Trophy at the 130th annual Westminster Kennel Club dog show. He is the first dog in his breed to win at the nation's most prestigious show. Rufus clearly had the balance of beauty and control to become America's top dog. He didn't hesitate to use his head either. Judges were most impressed with his head perfectly shaped like an egg. It was the first time I set foot on Westminster's green carpet and the very friendly backstage. Fun fun fun! Here are a few photos that I shot at the show! Enjoy!

Did you know... Westminster is the oldest, continuous sporting event in America, with the exception of the Kentucky Derby. Over one hundred twenty years ago, the Westminster Kennel Club was initiated by a group of gentlemen who enjoyed sporting dogs, primarily Pointers and Setters. The group's frequent meeting place was held at the Westminster Hotel in New York City. The Westminster Kennel Club was established with a view to increase an interest in dogs, and thus improve the breeds, and to hold an Annual Dog Show in the City of New York.
